Oil painting on canvas, Lady Anne Fitzgerald, Mrs Francis Robartes by Henri Gascars (Paris 1634 – Rome 1701), 1686. A three-quarter-length portrait of Anne Fitzgerald, second wife of Francis Robartes after 1686. [or possibly Penelope Pole (Carew), from Antony, Cornwall, first wife of the Hon. Francis Robartes] She is seated on a chaise longue in front of a yellow curtain embroidered with silver, her left elbow resting on a cushion, a greenfinch perched on her right hand, wearing a blue cloak over a white shift with lace at elbows and neck; a landscape left.
Provenance
By inheritance, through the sitter's half-nephew, Charles, 2nd Earl of Radnor, until given by Gerald, 7th Viscount Clifden (1887 - 1974), with the transfer of the house to the National Trust in 1953
