Oil painting on canvas, John Parker, later 1st Lord Boringdon (1734 - 1788) manner of Thomas Hudson (Devonshire 1701 – Twickenham 1779), circa 1755-1760. A three-quarter-length portrait, facing, in blue-green velvet suit, his right arm resting on a table with his hat, his left hand on his hip.
Provenance
Mr Peyton; bought in 1889 (at Christie's ?) and thence by descent; accepted by the Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the Trust in 1957.
