Summary
Oil painting on paper laid onto plaster (circular), Diana and her Nymphs Hunting by Antonio Zucchi, RA (Venice 1726 – Rome 1796), 1768-70. Ceiling painting: one of a series of five decorative medallions painted on the ceiling and cornices. In the ceiling centre is 'Diana Hunting' and the four roundels represent the four seasons. This set is framed in the plaster work of Robert Adam's ceiling.
Provenance
Accepted with Saltram house and contents by HM Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the National Trust in 1957
