Oil painting on canvas, Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 3rd/7th Baronet Acland of Columb-John MP (1722-1785) by Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (1723-1792) and Studio, circa 1768. A three-quarter-length portrait of Sir Thomas Acland, seated to the right beneath a tree, wearing a plum-coloured coat and buff breeches, holding a whip in his right hand and his left hand resting on the head of a dog, a stag hound, at his knees. A puce-coloured neckerchief with yellow and white spots is below his right buttock.
Provenance
Accepted by the Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the Trust in 1957.
