Summary
Oil painting on copper, Miss Meyer as Hebe (after Reynolds) by Frances Talbot, Countess of Morley (Wymondham 1782 - ?Saltram 1857), after Sir Joshua Reynolds, PRA (Plympton 1723- London 1792), the original of which is in the Rothschild Collection, Ascott (NT 1535159) and was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1772. Mary Meyer, said to be temperamental, was daughter of Jeremiah, the well-known miniaturist, and sat to Reynolds between August 1771 and January 1772. Here she is seen, standing in front of Jupiter, in the guise of an eagle, looking, sweetly, back at the viewer whilst holding a jug full of nectar.

Accepted by the Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the Trust in 1957
