Summary
Portrait miniature, enamel, John, Lord Hervey, 2nd Baron Hervey of Ickworth (1696-1743) by Christian Friedrich Zincke (Dresden 1685 - Lambeth 1767), circa 1725-30. Oval, head and shoulders portrait of a young man, head inclined slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a bright blue coat. Grey eyes, long powdered hair, florid complexion. Plain drab background. Accompanied by an enamel tag.
Provenance
Presumably commissioned by the sitter or his father; thence by descent to the 4th Marquess of Bristol; accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of tax and transferred to the National Trust in 1956.
