Summary
A Coromandel polychrome painted cabinet on later stand, The coromandel panels Chinese, late 17th century, the cabinet English, early 18th century, the stand English or Dutch, mid 19th century With a pair of cupboard doors enclosing an arrangement of eleven ebonised drawers. The cabinet decorated with coromandel panels (probably from a screen) depicting figures and buildings within landscapes and with chased gilt brass lock and hinge plates. The 17th century style later stand with S scroll legs tied by stretchers and raised on turned bun feet.
Provenance
Part of the Bristol Collection. Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
