Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Elizabeth Wrottesley, Lady Wolryche by British (English) School, circa 1650-60. A three-quarter length portrait of the wife of Sir Francis Wolryche, seated at a table, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, she is writing a music score, a quill pen held in her right hand and the paper in her left hand. She has darn brown hair worn in ringlets which fall on her shoulders, She is wearing a grey satin dress with a brown satin wrap, draped over both arms. She is also wearing double pendant pearl earrings and a single strang pearl necklace. The table on the left, at which she sits, is covered with a red tablecloth, and and on it are two open music books with music notation and an inkwell.
