Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Wolryche's Hunt, British (English) School, circa 1712/20. The hunt assembles beneath a craggy rock in a capriccio English landscape with castles. The gentleman far left directs the hunt servants, all in light blue, save the chief young huntsman, beside the gentleman in white, who is in red. The Kennelman in the foreground is putting his hand into a large scarlet bag; but the three figures on foot in the foreground are presumably a lower order of hunt servants: whipper-in, earth-stopper, and the like. Bridgnorth and the River Severn are beyond. The group of huntsmen in foreground with hounds, including Sir John Wolryche and his gamekeeper in foreground in blue coat.
