Summary
Dutch walnut cabinet on stand, late 17th century; burr walnut veneer on cornice, frieze and two large doors; the doors with flush panels outlined in chevron parquetry within mitred framing, the proper left door having a leading edge strip closing over the right with a large and ornate brass escutcheon; the escutcheon engraved with daisies in a roundel flanked by openwork brass plates featuring birds with fish in their talons amid scrolling strapwork; the interior fitted with fixed shelves, sliding shelves and three small drawers; the stand with three drawers in the frieze, on eight tapering hexagonal legs with leafy collars and linked by scrolled strapwork stretchers on bun feet.

Acquired by the Hesketh family for use at Rufford; photographed in the Entrance Hall at Rufford New Hall, c.1918; later moved to the Entrance Hall at Easton Neston; purchased by the National Trust at Sotheby's Easton Neston sale, 17th/19th May 2005, Lot No. 234.
