Summary
Large carved oak press cupboard dated 1661, with 19th century additions, all carved in the Lancashire manner; the upper section with two central fixed panels between two doors, carved with rosettes, vines and flowering plants; the frieze with S scrolls, an applied wheatsheaf carving in the centre, and the date 1661 split between the two end blocks carrying pendants; the later cornice of canted form with lunette carving; the upper part of the lower section with two central doors between two fixed panels, carved with arches, flowering vines and sea-dragons, below a sea-dragon frieze; the lower part of the lower section with a wide central door (replacing two doors) between two fixed panels, all carved with scrolling vines and rosettes.
