Summary
Composite suit of armour, mostly 16th/17th century, all of bright steel; close helmet Italian, the visor converted to vertical bars in the early 17th century in the manner of the Pisan Gioco del Ponte; gorget with upper edge roped, the lower edge plain; breastplate and backplate Italian mid-16th century if genuine, with lance-rest; shoulder plates Italian late 16th century with plain rolled edge; arm-pieces German mid-16th century, fastened to shoulder plates with turning pin, the elbow-piece with crinkled edge; right gauntlet late 16th century with rounded cuff and laminated paw; left gauntlet a fake, with pointed cuff and laminated paw, the thumb missing; tassets Italian, of seven lames embossed with a pair of scrolls on bottom plate; leg harness a fake, probably 19th century, the knee-plates with double ray-motif. The suit of armour stands on an oak plinth.
