Summary
Two fragments of Flemish verdure tapestry, late 17th-/early 18th-century, probably cut from the same work, showing a distant mansion and water garden seen from a hill with a foreground of foliage, flowering plants and a crane. Added 20th-century blue wool repp borders.
Provenance
On loan to Rufford Old Hall from Major the Hon. John Breckinridge Fermor-Hesketh (1917-1961); by descent to Mrs J.I. Robinson; purchased by the National Trust from the executors of her estate, 2012.
