Summary
Oil painting on panel, Dutch Family in a Landscape, manner of Gerard or Gerrit Donck (b. before 1610 - c. 1640), previously attributed to Pieter Codde (Amsterdam 1599 – Amsterdam 1678), circa 1635-1645. A family portrait in a landscape, the man standing to left, his wife sitting right with child standing in the middle between them both. A handbag is placed on the path to the left of the lady, next to the bench on which she sits.
Provenance
Henry Louis Bischoffsheim, Bute House in South Audley Street and thence by descent to Sir John Fitzgerald; bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957 by Lady Mildred Fitzgerald, in accordance with the wishes expressed in the will of her husband, Sir John Fitzgerald, the 21st Knight of Kerry, who inherited it from his mother, Amelia Catherine Bischoffsheim
