Summary
Oil painting on canvas, King George II (1683–1760), studio of Thomas Hudson (Devonshire 1701 – Twickenham 1779), circa 1744. A full-length portrait, in Garter robes; seated on a throne, holding a sceptre in his left hand; crown and orb on a table behind; red curtained backdrop. Similar portraits by Hudson are at Goodwood and in the National Portrait Gallery. The latter was noted by Vertue (III, p.121) in 1744.
