Summary
Oil painting on board, Young Lady in Candlelight by Johann Mongels Culverhouse (Rotterdam c.1820 - New York c.1890), signed and dated, bottom right J. M. Culverhouse 57 [1857] - in black and orange gesso frame. The painting was left to Carrie Kipling by her mother C S Balestier and is mentioned in her mother's will. The will is kept at The Keep. In the will the painting is referred to as Girl with Candle by Culverhouse.
