Summary
An oak dressing stool, English, mid-18th century, covered in woollen needlework of buff and red laurel wreaths within a foliate border against a blue ground, reputedly worked by Caroline Starr Balestier, Mrs Rudyard Kipling (1862-1939). The stool with deep seat rails fitted with quadrant spandrels, and raised on four cabriole legs with ears and terminating in pad feet.
