Summary
A joined oak mule chest, Westmorland/Lancashire, dated 1689. The twin-plank top above a front of three panels, each carved in low relief with a lozenge of stylised leaves and foliage, beneath a toprail carved with a meandering vine around a central reserve carved with the initials 'AT' and the date '1689'. Fitted with a pair of drawers with fronts carved with meandering stylised foliage, with moulded rails and muntins.
Provenance
Acquired by the National Trust in 1976 from New Place, Willingdon, East Sussex.
