Summary

Bronze temple bell from Myanmar (Burma) from 19th century. Kipling visited Burma in 1889, soon after it became part of the British Empire. His experience inspired the poem ‘Mandalay’, where he refers to ‘tinkly temple-bells,’ such as this one.
