Oil painting on canvas, William Hoare of Bath, RA (Eye 1706 – Bath 1792) by Prince Hoare (Bath 1755- Brighton 1834). A half-length portrait of the artist's father facing to the left, wearing a brown coat, white stock and powdered hair.
Provenance
Left to Richard Colt Hoare (1758 - 1838) in painter's will, 1834; and thence by descent; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
