Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Unknown Lady, [possibly Anne Hoare, Mrs Hoare (d. 1759)], attributed to Johann Kerseboom (fl.1680- d.1708), circa 1685/95/ A three-quarter length portrait of a woman, seated and facing, forward, in a landscape with her left arm resting on a stone, holding a rose. She is wearing an orange dress and blue cloak is draped around her left arm. In the left background is a flowing fountain.
Provenance
Given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
