Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Mill near Llangollen, North Wales by Sir Augustus Wall Callcott, RA (Kensington 1779 - Kensington 1844), 1812. A view of a cottage and a watermill to the right with cattle standing in a pond in the foreground; a washerwomen stands with a water pot on the left, painted in the manner of Cuyp, done from a sketch by Colt Hoare.
Provenance
Commissioned by Sir Richard Colt Hoare 2nd Bt (1758 – 1838) and thence by descent;given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
