Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Frances Ann Acland, Lady Hoare (1735/6 - 1800) by Samuel Woodforde, RA (Ansford 1763 - Ferrara 1817), circa 1787. A three-quarter length portrait of the second wife of Sir Richard Hoare 1st Bt (1735 - 1787) as an old woman. She is seated to the left in a black dress, with white scarf and a bandeau around her hair. Inscribed later, in Wavendon, with the name of sitter.
Provenance
Brought from Wavendon by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare 6th Bt (1865 - 1947) and Alda Weston, Lady Hoare (d. 1847) between 1894 and 1898. Given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
