Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Peter Richard Hoare (1772 - 1849) attributed to John Rising (1753 – London 1817), circa 1790 - 1817. A half-length portrait, facing left, of the fifth and youngest son of Sir Richard Hoare, 1st Bt, wearing a black coat with gold buttons and white stock in front of a red curtain background. Inscribed later, possibly in Wavendon, with the name of the sitter on the bottom left.
Provenance
Brought from Wavendon by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare 6th Bt (1865 - 1947) and Alda Weston, Lady Hoare (d. 1847) between 1894 and 1898.Given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
