Summary
Watercolour on paper, An Avalanche in the Alps (after de Loutherbourg) by Francis Nicholson (Pickering 1753 – London 1844), circa 1808. The original 1803 sublime painting belonged to Colt Hoare's friend, Sir John Leicester of Tabley Hall, Cheshire, until it was sold in 1827 and is now in Tate Britain (T00772).
