Dunster Castle, Somerset
An ebonised wood, olivewood, ebony, ivory and floral marquetry side table, Dutch, the top circa 1690, the base circa 1880. The rectangular top with central urn and floral bouquet with bird and mask detail, in walnut, cherry, sycamore, holly and harewood, within an outer rosewood border and quadrant corners, the friezes and stretchers inlaid with foliage, the top and stretchers with ebony and ivory chequer edging, standing on spiral-twist legs terminating in bun feet, joined by a wavy X-shaped stretcher.
Gifted to the National Trust by Mrs Hider in 1994.
