Summary
Oil painting on canvas. Soldiers by an Encampment, after Philips Wouwerman (Haarlem 1619 - Haarlem 1688). An upright view of soldiers at rest. Tents have been erected on the left, decorated with flags and garlands and women sit in front of them. On the left is a horse with his back to the viewer with a rider and in the centre stands a white horse, with saddle but no-one seated. On the right is a group of figures, one lying on the ground and another playing a flute whilst a couple look as if they are dancing. In the distance is a church.
