Summary
Oil painting on panel, Still Life with Fruit by Jan Mortel (Leyden c.1650 - 1719), signed and dated on the ledge illusionistically cut into the marble: J Mortel (JM in monogram) F.A. 1697. Grapes, peaches, a pomegranate and a peeled lemon on a silver plate are displayed in a stone niche on a ledge. A cabbage white butterfly hovers to the right of the lemon and a monarch butterfly is above it on the right. Blue drapery on the right compliments the blue bow in the upper left.
