Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Dame Pigot (born 16th century), attributed to Gilbert Jackson (fl.1621-1640). A three-quarter-length portrait of Dame Pigot seated. She holds a book in her left hand which also has a ring on her thumb. To her left, on the table, is a pair of pince-nez scpectacles and a pocket watch. She has a ruff and a tall pilgrim-like hat. On the upper right is a painted coat of arms with three diamonds. Dame Pigot was grandmother of Hugh Pigot (1630-1697). All three of the ancestors of George Baron Pigot of Patshull (1719-1777) and of Mary Anne Nott (1803-1875) who married in 1827 Captain W. A. Willis, RN (1799-1862).

Presented by Rt Hon Frances, Lady Danesbury of Wotton Hall, Warrington, Lancs. to Colonel Richard ffolliott Willis; bequeathed of Colonel Richard ffolliot Willis 1956 -formerly lent to Lydiard Tregoze, Swindon and transferred to Mompesson House, which was given to National Trust by Denis Martineau (d. 1975) in 1952, in 1984.
