This is one of a number of 18th century English porcelain figures collected by William Bessemer Wright in the early 1900s. From the 1740s English factories such as Chelsea, Derby and Bow began by copying figures and teawares made by Meissen and later developed their own designs.
Summary
Derby figure of Justice standing with her left arm raised and her eyes shut. Wearing yellow lined turquoise cloak, her pink dress with panels of flowers. The whole on a wave-scroll base outlined in gold. Circa 1770.
