Summary
One of a pair of Derby candelabra formed as figures. A lady seated before balustrades and flowering trees. She is wearing a feathered orange pink cloak, turquoise bodice, multicoloured flowered apron and skirt and holding a birdcage. A lamb lies recumbent beside her. Raised on a gilt wave-scroll base encrusted with flowers. Two pierced nozzles and wax pans painted in turquoise and gold. No marks. Circa 1765. (Patricia Fergusson, 2004, 'Matrimony')
