Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Chaloner Chute (d.1685), attributed to John Closterman (Osnabrück 1660 – London 1711). A head-and-shoulders portrait, to right, wearing a long wig and grey-green coat (possibly once framed as an oval). Grandson of the Speaker.

In 1842 inventory as: "A Portrait (Chaloner Chute) in ditto [gilt frame], in Chapel Parlour; 1880s Notes, 1842, as: "Chaloner, grandson of Speaker (said to be Kneller or Lely)"; bequeathed with The Vyne, estate and contents by Sir Charles Chute, 1st Bt (1879-1956)
