Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Chute (c. 1660 - c. 1705), attributed to Philippe Vignon (Paris 1638 - 1701), previously catalogued as attributed to Jakob Ferdinand Voet (Antwerp 1639 - Paris 1700). A bust-length portrait of the third son of Chaloner Chute the second, to right, wearing a classical yellow tunic and green cloak fastened with a brooch at the right shoulder with a long wig. At their father's death in 1666 his children were cared for by their grandmother. Thomas entered the law and married in 1687 Elizabeth Rivett. The Vyne eventually came to their descendants.

Possibly in 1842 inventory, as: "Portrait (Thomas, son of Chaloner Chute), in ditto" [gilt frame] in the Chapel Parlour; 1880s Notes, as: "Thomas, grandson of Speaker"; bequeathed with The Vyne, estate and contents by Sir Charles Chute, 1st Bt (1879-1956)
