Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Dorothy North, Lady Dacre, later Mrs Chaloner Chute (1605 – 1698), after Sir Anthony van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641). A three-quarter length portrait of the daughter of Dudley, 3rd Lord North and Frances Brocket, wearing a white dress; the end of a dark veil or scarf over her right shoulder is held in her left hand; pearl necklace and earrings and pearl coronet in her hair on black band. She married firstly in 1624/5 Richard Lennard, the 13th Lord Dacre (d.1630) and secondly, in 1650, Chaloner Chute, the Speaker. The son of her second marriage, Chaloner, married the daughter of her first, Catherine Dacre. She retained the title of Lady Dacre until her death.to right,
