Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Lady called called Countess of Essex (Frances Walsingham), British (English) School, circa 1615-1620. Full-length portrait, standing to right, her left arm resting on the back of a chair; she wears a long white or silver satin dress with red trimmings, and with a red and gold embroidered panel in front, ruff and pearls. Her slight embonpoint, her attitude of holding pearls, with her hand resting on her stomach, suggest pregnancy. Pendant to the Earl of Essex: NT 719359.
