Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Captain Richard Beaumont (1670-1723), by William Beaumont, British (English) School, late 17th century. A painted oval portrait, facing right, wearing a grey wig, gilded armour, a white cravat and a blue cloak. The sitter married Susannah Horton. Their son (also Richard) was the father of the five members of the Beaumont family pictured by Romney copy of which is in the Dining Room. Their daughter Frances married another branch of the Beaumont family and was the forebear of Dora Maria Beaumont who married James Worsley Pennyman in 1882. Dora Maria’s father inherited Whitley Beaumont from a distant cousin who was the great-great grandson of Richard Beaumont & Susannah Horton.
