Summary
Upper portion with handle of Bellarmine or Greybeard stoneware jug. 17th century. Mottled brown with beginning of applied design below rim and deep circular stab mark at top of handle; probably made at Frenchen, Germany. Marked P.74 within. N.B. The Bellarmine - a now discredited caricature of Cardinal Bellarmine (1542-1621) was a large jug with a grotesque bearded face and other ornaments)
