Summary
A black and white photograph used to promote the 1997 Disney film version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. The photograph features the two stars of the film, Whitney Houston who played the Fairy Godmother and Brandy Norwood who played Cinderella. In the photo, Cinderella sits in a carriage looking through the window towards the Fairy Godmother standing outside the carriage having just transformed Cinderella into a princess. Underneath the photograph there is a paragraph of printed text describing the image and advertising when the film is due to be played on ABC television in America. There is a Disney logo printed to the left of this paragraph and a Cinderella logo to the right. Rogers and Hammerstein were a theatre writing team comprised of the composer Richard Rogers (1902 – 1979) and the lyricist-dramatist Oscar Hammerstein II (1895 – 1960). Their musical theatre writing partnership is often seen as the greatest of the Twentieth Century. Whitney Elizabeth Houston (1963 – 2012) was an American singer and actress and is one of the most awarded performers of all time. In 2023 she was ranked number two in Rolling Stone magazines greatest singers list. Brandy Rayana Norwood (b. 1979) is an American singer, dancer, model and actress.
