Summary
A cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record containing two pieces of classical music; Peter and The Wolf Opus 67 by Sergei Prokofiev and The Young Persons Guide To The Orchestra Opus 34 by Benjamin Britten. The front of the sleeve features a black and white image of the musician David Bowie who narrates Peter and The Wolf, in front of a drawing of a wolf. Peter and The Wolf is printed in red letters at the top left of the front of the sleeve and there is an RCA Records logo at the bottom right. The rear of the sleeve features an image of the conductor Eugene Ormandy who conducted both pieces of music on the record, surrounded by various musical instruments and butterflies.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, Peter and The Wolf recorded by The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy and released by RCA Records on 2nd May 1978. Purchased by The National Trust as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
