Summary
A late 1950s wooden toddler's commode chair on wheels (potty chair on wheels). It is possibly a home-made chair. It runs on three wheels with a hole in the seat for the housing for the metal enameled toilet pot. A leather strap and buckle to hold the child in when in operation and when not in use it has a wooden cover over the housing for the pot. The child could be strapped in in the morning and could wheel around and play until it performed (potty training). The donor's brother and her were trained on it in the late 1950s at approx. 18 months old.
Provenance
A gift to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Mrs. Alison Lewis in 2016.
