Summary
A maroon painted model train set comprising one locomotive, one tender and two carriages. The locomotive has a black chimney and dome. The smokebox is black with 'Hornby' embossed at the top and a metal screw on a silver base in the middle. A silver metal rail runs from the cab round the boiler. On either side of the open cab is a bronze metal plate embossed with '2710'. Two metal rods with circular ends protrude into the cab, which has two cut out windows. The chassis is black with red buffer beams bearing couplings at each end. The clockwork motor is centrally placed between the four black metal spoked wheels, with the winding lever on the right side. Beside this is incised 'Wind Only This Way'. There are two black cylinders attached, one each side, at the front of the chassis. Underneath at the back is embossed in black 'M Lo, L, England'. The maroon metal tender has an open front with a raised rail on three sides. On either long side is a gold painted circle with 'M Lo/ L' painted on. The black chassis has 'M Lo, L, England' embossed on its upper side. Underneath a decorated side piece is attached to the two axles holding the four solid metal wheels. The back of the chassis is painted red with two metal buffers and a coupling hook. At the front is a metal hook. Carriage number one has a black chassis and roof with a maroon painted body. At either end black lines are painted to represent doors with 'Hornby Series' printed in black and gold. At either end are two metal buffers and a coupling hook. The black metal ridged roof is detachable. On both the maroon sides are three single hinged opening doors. The outer ones bear the number '3' and the central doors bear '1' with 'Third' and 'First' printed in gold. There are six painted windows on either side with 'LNER 1224' in gold below them. The inside is painted orange with a black floor. The black chassis has fancy filigree mounts holding the axles through the through solid metal wheels. The second carriage is similar except that at each side has a pair of double opening doors. One side has two small metal keys in these doors, the other has only one. There is also a single opening door on either side with the top window coloured gold and 'Guard' written in gold beneath the window. One door has a key. At the side of these doors is a projecting metal box. Total number of items is 6.
