Summary

Part of a chemistry in a wooden box. The pieces are as follows: Five glass bottles of various sizes with long necks and bulbous at the bottom. These show signs of use. One glass funnel. One glass object shaped like a watering can with one closed handle and one open spout on different sides at different angles. One small glass container filled with yellow-white woven material, possibly fibreglass. This container is marked in green with 'W[609] Bros. Barnsley, W Resistant 40' in an ornate design. Five thin glass dishes, one larger than the others with a green edge. One thin flat piece of blue glass. One glass container containing thirteen glass test tubes. One test tube is smaller than the others and another is taller and thinner than the others. Total number of items is 29.

Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Miss E Grimwood Taylor in 1984.

Marks and inscriptions

On the bottom of the largest bottle: 'FOREIGN' On the neck of the smallest bottle: 'KAVALIER / 8 / BOHEMIA / 100 (the funnel also has this printed on it but CZECHSOLOVAKIA instead of 100.)' On the side of the fibreglass container: 'W[609] BROS. BARNSLEY / W / RESISTANT / 40'
