Summary
A child's wooden high chair which converts into a low chair and table (possibly 1930s). The chair has turned legs, arm rests and supports and seat back uprights. The three spindles are between the curved top and bottom rails. A wooden tray is attached by a sprung metal mechanism and hinge to the front of the arms. The chair has a shaped, hinged wooden footrest. Each front leg is hinged a third of the way down. In the same position on each rear leg is a revolving iron wheel. Between these rear legs, are two shorter legs, each with a revolving iron wheel and a metal spring attached. The wooden base of the high chair forms a table, when the top half of the chair is unhinged and the spring mechanism released, allowing it to swing through 180 degrees. In this new position a low chair on wheels is attached to the table. Attached to the two sides of the table are two rails, each threaded with ten beads, red, yellow, black and white in colour. In the centre of the table is a black and cream image of people on horseback in a forest, a child feeding chickens, a dovecote, a fence, train and telegraph pole in the background, two children on a swing, and a child wearing a sailor suit. The image is surrounded by a black, white and red rectangular border, in each corner is a compass rose. The image is lifting off.
