Summary
A child's metal all-in-one rattle and whistle (probably 19th century). The stem of the whistle is copper coloured and decorated with three brass coloured bands which have engraved roses and leaves. The central band protrudes and has seven spherical bells hanging from it on rings. There is one bell and ring missing. The base of the stem is 'crenulated'. The rattle is possibly gold plated and not solid gold. Gold does not tarnish over time and therefore it is possible that the gold has worn away to reveal a metal alloy underneath which has tarnished over time.
