Summary
An Ensign box camera comprising a rectangular wooden box covered in a black imitation leather fabric. On the front of the camera is a circular lens surrounded by a circular metal frame on which is written Rapid Rectilinier Model. Above this is embossed inside a circle is the make; “Box Ensign 2 1/4 B”. Both are framed by a hinged, rectangular wire frame. This end of the camera opens on a hinge and is held shut by a hinged metal disc. On the top of the camera is a carrying strap with 'Ensign' impressed into it. There is also a view finder. On one side of the camera is a metal wind up mechanism, another view finder and a metal mechanism with two levers and two corresponding slots. On the other side of the camera is a card label which included details of the camera made and date of manufacturer.
