Summary
A metal school prefect's badge made of gold-coloured metal with details in blue enamel (circa 1963). The donor was made a prefect in the Upper Sixth Form of Wednesbury Boys' High School, c1963 (aged 18). It is in the form of a shield with a scroll beneath. Horizontally across the centre of the badge is a gold-coloured band which has two diamond shapes with a circle between. Above and below this, on a blue background, is a lion standing on three legs and raising the fourth. On the 'scroll' part of the badge, on a blue background, is the school motto 'Arte Marte Vigore'. At the back of the badge is a crescent-shaped metal piece, presumably meant to be fastened into a buttonhole.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Peter Garrington in May 2007.
