Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette was identified as 'Marguerite' and is from a play entitled 'Faust'. Dressed as a Tudor lady marionette without a control. Her head is plaster over wood with a wooden body, arms and legs. Her hands are made out of moulding materials. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, knees and ankles, with metal and string. Her right leg is missing below the knee. The marionette lady has painted and moulded facial features with wide blue eyes with blue eye shadow and red lips. On her head she is wearing a dark blue velvet hat, pointed at the top, with decorative front and side pieces. These front pieces trail over her shoulders. Around her neck she is wearing a locket on a chain made out of green tin foil and plastic. Her white-cream blouse is trimmed with lace. She has a long dress with a pink-orange bodice with a square neck and wide flowing pink sleeves, ending at the elbows to show the sleeves of her blouse. Her skirt is long and is pleated, coloured pink-orange and various shades of green. On her dress is fixed a metal bell on a string. The inside of her dress is a thick canvas material, trimmed with lace at the bottom. Her legs are unpainted wood. There are various black strings attached to the puppet in places.
