Summary
A fabric-covered, metal, clockwork Scotty dog made in Germany by Schuco (circa 1935). Most of the toy is covered with felt-like fabric: black for the head and tail area, and red, mock-tartan for the coat. The metal area, visible on the underside, is painted black. The dog resembles a Scotty dog and has pointed ears and fur fabric patches on his cheeks and eyebrows. He has a black nose, possibly plastic and brown glass eyes. As part of the mechanism, on the underside, there are two large metal wheels which, as they turn, cause the front legs to move forward alternately. These front legs are made of metal covered with fur fabric. The back legs are suggested by small circular paddles which shuffle alternately as the toy moves forward. The operating key is missing, and some of the paintwork is chipped.
