Summary
A late 1920s or 1930s composition doll, flesh tone, with an internal clockwork mechanism that is wound by a small metal key that fits into a socket in the doll's side. The doll is articulated at the neck, arms and legs. The opposite arm and leg move together when the doll is wound. The head has a moulded simulated tuft of hair at the front. The hair is painted orange/brown in colour. The facial features including the ears, have been moulded and painted. The doll's eyes are grey on a white background with black pupils, the cheeks are pink and the lips red. The eyebrows are painted with a fine line. The limbs and head are glazed, but the body is unglazed. The doll is wearing an ivory coloured cotton dress tied with white ribbons at the shoulder. The back of the garment has a horizontal ribbed effect. The front is decorated with pierced and embroidered work in a floral and leaf pattern which continues around the scalloped bottom edge. cThe are as old as the doll, but she might have orginally worn dungrees. Total number of items is 2.
