Summary
A child's green and cream glazed cotton dress (1840s). The garment is handsewn and is made up of two layers; a plain green, loosely woven fabric with a glaze covered by a fine green net which has a cream, repetitive plant design woven into it. It has puffed sleeves gathered into a cuff of green, satin ribbon edged with a cream trim. The same type ribbon is round the scooped neckline. The front of the bodice has decorative strips of green and cream ribbon. The long skirt is pleated. It fastens down the back with six metal hooks and eyes. There is some staining round the neck and some small holes in the lining. The net is split and distressed in several places.
